Testing Your NCR Retail Online Store




Before your online store is advertised on the web, you should browse through the storefront and place multiple test orders.

By thoroughly testing your storefront, you'll ensure that shipping rates, taxes, etc. are being calculated as you intend, and you will become more familiar with the ordering process should your customers have any questions once your online store is live.

Store Live

When your store is initially created, its current status is live. While you are designing and testing your storefront, your store will be in a live mode. Until you start advertising your store and/or move it to its proper domain, your store will be very difficult for anyone to find. Until you are ready to take orders through your storefront, your storefront will display a Demo Store Notice. This will warn Shoppers that their orders, if placed, will not be processed.

*IMPORTANT NOTE: If you wish to go live with your permanent domain in place, you will need a valid SSL certificate purchased through NCR. This process can take a minimum of two weeks. The process includes obtaining the SSL, as well as installing and configuring the SSL certificate on your servers. The two week estimate for completing this effort begins after the SSL is obtained.

Previewing Your Storefront

From any web browser, you can type in your store's current web address to preview your storefront. You can navigate, shop, place orders, and fully test your store.

Modify the following sample test plan and thoroughly test your storefront before you advertise that your online store is open to the public.

Placing Orders

Place and ship orders to multiple states and verify that shipping rates
and taxes are calculated as expected
Place and ship international orders and verify that shipping rates and
taxes are calculated as expected

Create several new customer accounts

Place multiple orders for customers uploaded from Counterpoint

If using multiple customer categories, place an order logged in as a
customer in each customer category

Importing Orders into Counterpoint

Import multiple types of orders (e.g., standard, international,
different tax locations, orders for different customer categories, etc.)
into Counterpoint
Identify and solve import errors (e.g., ship-via errors, tax code
errors, etc.)

Publishing Orders Back to NRO

Process and publish orders that have shipped

Process and publish orders that have not shipped yet

Process and publish orders that contain backordered items

Process and publish orders that were edited after being imported

Process and publish orders that were split into multiple invoices

Publish tracking numbers

View and edit resulting order confirmation emails

Tax Rate Lookup by ZIP Code (if you aren't using the Avatax feature, you may skip this section)

Verify that tax rates are properly applied based on orders from
various ZIP codes

Domain Name and SSL Certificate

Verify that the address you chose during registration is showing up
for your store. If it is not, contact the Retail Hosted Apps team about the status of your SSL Certificate.

Import Orders Into NCR Counterpoint

Configure ADT

Publishing ecommerce data is the method of transferring items, orders and customers from Counterpoint to NRO. ADT affords you the ability to schedule ecommerce imports and publishes every 30 minutes, which means you can "set it and forget it." Your ADT tab is one that should be configured, just before you go live. Use these articles to help you configure ADT:


Officially Opening Your Store

When you are ready to begin accepting orders through your online store, notify support (support.retailapps@ncr.com) that you will be ready to move your store to it's regular domain, if applicable. Once this is done, we will help you through the go-live transition and remove the demo store notification from your store.

The go live transition includes purchasing an SSL certificate, if you wish to go live using your own domain. If you do want to use your domain, we'll need to closely coordinate the change and you'll need to make a change to your NROConnectionConfig utility, to ensure your order downloads and publishes continue to process.
