Gathering Information

Before you go to the Secure Pay website to sign-up for service, there are a couple of pieces of information you will need.

The first thing you will need is your Counterpoint serial number. To find this, you will log into Counterpoint System / Views / Environment. The serial number will be in the top right corner.

After you have your Counterpoint serial number, you will need to contact your credit card processor about an ecommerce account, if you do not already have one. Once you have an ecommerce account with your processor, you will need to request they send you your accounts VAR sheet. The VAR sheet has critical information that you will need to sign up for your Secure pay account.

WARNING: You will need to have an ecommerce account for NCR Secure pay.

You will also want to make sure you have the contact information for your Counterpoint partner.

The last piece of informaton you will need will be a credit card to pay for service.

Signing Up For Secure Pay

After you have filled out the Company form and choose next, you will need to enter your store information. Once you select your processor, the store tab will populate with additional fields that will require you to refer to your VAR sheet obtained earlier.

TIP: Hovering over one of the question marks to the right of field will give you additional information to help you find it on your VAR sheet.

  2. Go to the Sales section (left-hand side), and then click on the Payment Methods tab.
  3. Expand the NCR Secure Pay.
Secure Pay Tab
  • Enabled - Yes, to enable NCR Secure Pay.
  • Title - The title describes the payment option on the checkout page.
  • Payment Action - Authorize only allows you to authorize the funds and then wait to capture funds at the time of order processing. This is the recommended method. Authorize and Capture claims funds at the time the customers submits their order. This is not preferred as this does not afford you the opportunity to check inventory before processing the order.
  • New Order Status - Allows you to select the status of new orders created by shoppers. The only option currently is Processing.
  • Secure Pay Login ID - You received this data after registering for NCR Secure Pay. This will be your POS Username from Secure Pay.
  • Secure Pay Password - You received this data after registering for NCR Secure Pay. This will be your POS Password from Secure Pay.
  • Secret Key - Enter a secret key. The key is used to encrypt transaction data before and after it's processed. This can be any random key generated by you.
WARNING: Once you have set the secret key, you should leave it as is. If you do choose to change the secret key, do it after you have settled all batches.
  • Accepted Currency - Select the currency your online store accepts.
  • Credit Card Types - These are the credit card types you accept in your store.
  • Credit Card Verification (CVV) - If you wish to use CVV, set this to Yes. Cvv (Credit Card Value) code is the 4 digit code printed on the back of the card. This provides an extra layer of security for the card holder.
  • Credit Card Address Verification - The ecommerce industry standard is Zip Code Only. If you choose to use 'All' there is a possibility that valid credit cards could fail authorization due to incorrect address information.
  • Decline Unknown AVS / CVV Response: Option to decline the payment if unknown response for the AVS / CVV entry are received. *Note: Generally, international card issuing banks cannot or do not return AVS information to the processor.  Having this AVS option set to YES could cause international orders or orders using international payment methods to fail the AVS lookup.  There is a higher liability for the merchant if these transactions are not declined.  We recommend discussing this option with your processor who can help make an informed decision about whether to allow or disallow unknown responses.
  • Payment from Applicable Countries - Select which countries you allow payments, All Allowed or Specific Countries.
  • Payment from Specific Countries - If Specific Countries selected on the previous option, select which countries here.

TIP: To select a group of countries listed next to each other: Click on the first country, then press the shift key on your keyboard and select the last country in the list. If the countries are not listed next to each other: Click on the first country, then press the ctrl key on your keyboard while selecting each other country.

  • Minimum Order Total - Leaving this option empty displays the Secure Pay payment option on the checkout page. If you'd like to limit when this payment option is available, enter a minimum order total. The customer must meet the min and max order totals for Secure Pay to be available at checkout.
  • Maximum Order Total - Leaving this option empty displays the Secure Pay payment option on the checkout page. If you'd like to limit when this payment option is available, enter a maximum order total. The customer must meet the min and max order totals for Secure Pay to be available at checkout.
  • Gatekeeper Timeout - This is the amount of time (in seconds) the gateway attempts to connect to the processor before it times out.
  • Sort Order - This number determines the order in which Secure Pay is displayed on the checkout page.
